The whole main Crichton estate operates effectively as a major public park for both its own tenants and the local community.
Its central area housing Crichton Memorial Church, Easterbrook Hall, Aston Hotel and the playing fields and pavilion are the most widely used by the public both informally and casually or through attendance at conferences and functions and a variety of sports activities.
Over the years the Development Company has managed and maintained the estate a great deal of restoration and improvement landscape work has been undertaken within a carefully planned framework. This care resulted in the accolade of the Britain in Bloom Best Public Park Award in 2001.
This is a wooded inland parkland course which lies immediately adjacent the main estate.
It is improving with maturity and is quite a difficult course with blind spots, trees and sloping fairways. From most holes there are spectacular views of Dumfries and the Nith Estuary conservation landscape. The 9 hole course is 5,952 yards over 18 holes. Par is 70 and the course amateur record is 64.
There is a friendly clubhouse with excellent bar prices and a lively social scene. To book functions at the clubhouse bar contact 01387 702216.
The course is operated by Crichton Golf Club. Playing times and tournaments are managed by the Golf Club. For bookings of parties of 4 or more players contact email@example.com or telephone 01387 254946.
The Aston Hotel, Dumfries (Now Holiday Inn Dumfries) on the main estate offers special golf rates and packages.
